We understand this may feel unexpected. This article explains why identity verification is required in certain situations within the Angel app.

Why Is My Social Security Number Being Requested?

Identity verification, including your Social Security Number (SSN), is only required if you are voting on completed, unreleased films in the Guild. This is a precautionary measure to:

  • Protect against unauthorized sharing of full-length unreleased films
  • Safeguard filmmakers' projects from individuals with malicious intentions
  • Ensure that only verified Guild members can access and vote on completed films

Does Angel Store My Social Security Number?

No. Angel does not store your Social Security Number. Verification is handled entirely by a trusted third-party service.

Is This Required for All Guild Members?

No. Identity verification is not required for:

  • Joining the Angel Guild
  • Voting on concept Torches

You will only be asked to provide your SSN when voting on completed, unreleased films in the Guild.

Who Is Eligible to Vote on Completed Films?

At this time, voting on completed films in the Guild is only available to Guild members located in the United States who have completed identity verification.

If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please reach out to our support team at angel.com/help and we will be happy to help.
