If you need help downloading the XBOX Angel Studios app, click here.
Downloading the app doesn’t start or fails:
- Check the Xbox status
Check the Xbox status page. If you see any services with alerts, expand the service, scroll down to Notifications, and sign in to receive a message when the service is up and running again.
- Sign in with the correct Xbox profile
Make sure you’re connected to Xbox and signed in with the profile that originally purchased the content.
- Check the space on your hard drive
View your notifications on your Xbox console to make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to install the content. Here’s how:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select the Notifications icon.
- See if there are any notifications about low or unavailable hard drive space. Xbox alerts you when you’re running low.
- If there’s a notification about low hard drive space, you’ll have to either delete content to free up space or add an external drive.
- Check for a system update
You may need to update your console. For example, if you see a “Download stopped” error, you may need to install an update before the download can complete.
To see if there’s an update available:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates.
If there are any updates, they’ll appear in the left menu. If not, you'll see "No console update available."
Download is slow or doesn’t complete
- Check your download speed
Scroll to Installing… <the game title you're downloading>.
Go to My games & apps > Manage > Queue and note the download speed shown on the game or app that’s being installed. This indicates the current download speed. If you're seeing slow speeds (for example, less than 1 megabit per second), it may take a long time for the download to complete.
While connected, your connection speed should be at least 1.5 Mb/s for the best experience.
- Close/suspend any running games
To provide the best gaming experience, background downloads are constrained while a game is running. To remove download constraints from games or apps being installed, you can either wait for the console to suspend the running game, or you can tell the console to suspend the game during the download. To suspend a game:
Go to My games & apps > Manage > Queue.
Select Suspend my game (this option is only available when a game is running while another game or app is being installed).
You can also force games to close by doing the following:
On the Home screen, navigate to your most recently run game.
With the game highlighted, press the Menu button and select Quit.
Once you've closed the most recently run game, check the speed at which your game or app is downloading. To avoid slowing your download, don't launch any games until your download has completed.
- Restart your console
Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your controller to open the Power Center.
Select Restart console.
Select Restart. This will automatically pause any existing downloads, which will resume once the console is restarted.
Note If the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button on the console for about 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart.
When you restart your console, all open apps and games will be closed, so once your console has restarted, verify that your downloads have resumed by doing the following:
- On the Home screen, open My games & apps > See all > Manage.
- Select Queue and highlight the game or app you're trying to download.
- The game or app should show as Installing.
- If the status shows as Queued or Paused, select the game or app, press the Menu button , and then select Resume installation.
Once you've checked that your downloads have resumed, check the speed at which your game or app is downloading. To avoid slowing your download, don't launch any games until your download has completed.
- Check your network connection
If the previous solutions didn't resolve the problem, see what your console’s download speed is in comparison with your subscription plan from your internet service provider (ISP). First, pause any running or queued downloads:
On the Home screen, open My games & apps > See all > Manage.
Select Queue and highlight any games or apps that are downloading or are queued to download.
Press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Pause installation for each game or app that's downloading or queued.
Next, close any games that are running on your system:
On the Home screen, navigate to your most recently run game.
With the game highlighted, press the Menu button and select Quit.
Now, run a network speed test:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
Select Test network connection.
