Animal Farm traces how a movement for equality is systematically corrupted. As the pigs consolidate control, truth is erased, dissent is crushed, and the farm descends into a ruthless dictatorship—fulfilling Orwell’s warning about the dangers of communism.

What is it rated?
Animal Farm has received an MPA rating of PG for for thematic elements, some action/violence, rude humor and language.
While the MPA has officially rated the movie PG, here at Angel we know that rating doesn’t always give parents the full picture. The Angel Guild—a community of thousands of parents, viewers, and supporters who screen and vote on Angel projects—has recommended the movie for Ages 11+ due to intense themes of power and oppression, scenes of intimidation and animal peril, and moments involving betrayal, punishment, and death (non-graphic).
Is it true to the book?
While updates were made to make the movie relevant to a broad-based, values-centric, family-friendly audience, this adaptation of Animal Farm is true to the anti-communist and anti-corruption roots of George Orwell's book.
